This April, Niagara Falls will be at the center of a rare astronomical event, the 2024 solar eclipse, not slated to occur again for over twenty years. This unique experience is only visible from a limited number of areas and Niagara Falls is in the small percentage of locations where viewers will be able to witness the moon eclipsing the sun in full totality. Plan your visit to Niagara Falls now for a truly exceptional day.
On April 8, 2024, this celestial event will last almost four minutes creating a darken sky in the middle of the afternoon and surround the area with a 360 degrees sunrise. The solar eclipse is expected to start at 2:04 p.m. and last for about two and a half hours. The sun will be fully eclipsed at approximately 3:20 to 3:23 p.m. Niagara Falls is lucky to be in the direct path of one of the most spectacular events in nature which gives visitors to Niagara Falls the opportunity to enjoy the wonder of Niagara Falls along side the awe of the stunning eclipse.
To mark the special occasion, Niagara Falls Tourism is hosting a free outdoor concert series at Queen Victoria Park for all visitors to enjoy. The show includes a star-studded line-up of performances concluding with the headliners, Ontario’s own The Glorious Sons. The slate of entertainment will kick off with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra playing the prelude to the total solar eclipse and will resume playing once totality is reached. Following the wonder of the total solar eclipse over Niagara Falls the show will continue with more performances by JJ Wilde, New Friends, and The Boneheads.
